Finding a job?

Hi I'm in Japan right now on a WHV and I'm trying to find a job, part time or otherwise.
Most people say to teach English or whatever, but every listing I've seen for that requires a university degree and sometimes teaching experience too.
I don't need a ton of money because my rent is cheap, so I thought about applying at convenience stores and stuff. One place I applied at was a warehouse type job that sounded similar to what I have done back home, but they called me and told me they don't hire foreigners. Is there a kind of job I can do?

can you speak and read Japanese? if not i would think you stand little chance of a warehouse or retail job, ask yourself this why would a company hire someone who can't understand the language when there's Japanese people looking for work,
but good luck to you ,i'd love to stay there for a year,

"ask yourself this why would a company hire someone who can't understand the language"
They do it all the time back home.
Either way though, it's not like I don't understand the language at all, my understanding of Japanese is OK, probably around N1 or N2.

If you present yourself well in Japanese and show that you are on WHV, with that level of language skills you should be able to find some part-time work at a convenience store, I'd say. Their English is crummy, but have you looked at this site? http://www.jawhm.or.jp/eng/Also, as you do have WHV, the degree requirement (for teaching) is not an immigration requirement but up to the employer's preference, so you might have a chance if they want a rather short-term teacher. Present yourself well in English this time if you are going for an English teaching position. Best wishes!

As most have mentioned, those requirements are mainly to satisfy immigration requirement and may not apply to you as you already have a WHV. Your main problem will be finding someone to hire you short term.

If you're N2 then you shouldn't have any problem landing these types of jobs. Once again the biggest drawback is that you'll be relatively short time. Have you checked out your local Hello Work office?

It's true that you'll have an easier time finding a teaching job if you have a university degree, but you could pull it off without one, as well. At my first job, one of my colleagues had a High School diploma only.

Yes, the alternate qualification for a work visa would be 3+ years of relevant teaching experience.

The impression I get is that the OP is looking for a work visa; he just wants a job on the working holiday visa he already holds. Most English teaching programmes require you to have a bachelor degree to satisfy immigration requirements; if you already hold a WHV you may as well just apply since the company in question will have no need to sponsor you for a visa.
