Asking for the transportation in Japan

Please advice the tranportation from Toyama airport (my flight will depart Sapporo to Toyama at 13.50) to Shirakawago. Thank you

Searched flight schedules from Sapporo to Toyama, I think your plane will land at Toyama at 13:50. You can catch a bus at 14:00 (connecting to the flight so that you do not need to worry), and will arrive at 14:22 at JR Toyama station.

Then you ride JR train to Johana (change at Takaoka).

The train will arrive at 16:27.

The last shuttle bus from JR Johana station to Shirakawago departs at 16:30. I think this bus must be in connection with the train arriving at 16:27 so you should have time to get on the bus which will reach Shirakawago at 17:43 according to the timetable.

As frog1954 said, it is possible to take a bus bound for Shirakawa-go from Johana Station. However, it can be better to get on the highway bus from Kanazawa arrive early in Shirakawa-go, on the timetable.
Some routes that I search are as follows.
a) Toyama Airport -(Bus 410yen)- Toyama -(JR Hokuriku Line 970yen)- Kanazawa -(Highway Bus 1,850yen)- Shirakawago
14:00 - 14:40/14:49 - 15:45/16:00 - 17:15
It is necessary to book in order to get on the highway bus of the above. Nohibus Reservation Center is accepting reservations in English.

Oops, I overlooked that the bus from JR Johana to Shirakawago runs only on Saturday, Sunday, Public holiday, 14-15th August. It should be better to take the Kanazawa route, as passerby168 wrote.

The next bus to go to Toyama depart at 14:50. However, it is not time for the highway bus from Kanazawa even if ride it.

If you have missed the bus bound Toyama Station, you will want to take a taxi.
Due to congestion status of the flight, it may take time to get to the baggage. But Toyama Airport is not a large-scale airport, since you can arrive a few minutes to the bus stop, there is a possibility that catch the bus hopefully.

The bus is for the passengers from Sapporo, and I think your group can get on the bus even you move very slow. The bus will wait for your group. As mentioned, Toyama AP is very small and you do not need to walk long.

By rail, from Hakodate to Takayama it takes about 11 hours. If you start at Sapporo, you will need additional 3.5 hrs, therefore I do not recommend it unless you have another destination and you stay there for one night.

I recommend that you will one night in Kanazawa or Toyama, the next day, heading to Shirakawa-go.
