A replica of Byodo-In in Hawaii ? 2014/7/23 05:40
Why is there a replica of the famous Byodo-In temple (located in Kyoto), in Hawaii?

Is it because many Japanese visit Hawaii?

In the English version the history of the one built in Hawaii is briefly mentioned, but it is not because of the tourists, but built for a commemorative purpose at a Buddhist temple.

izquierda, there are quite a few Japanese that have been living in Hawaii for a couple of generations...

"The Byodo-In Temple is located at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. It was established on June 7, 1968, to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii"

Do you think that the Tokyo tower, a replica of the Eiffel tower, was built especially to attract Parisians tourists?

@Red frog:

You don't need to always be agressive when replying to my threads, you know.
On se calme...

I know about Tokyo Tower. The fact that there is an exact replica of Byodo-In in Hawaii is pretty uncommon. You don't see often replicas of the Colosseum, of the Taj Mahal or the Chichen Itza pyramid in the world, excepted in special touristic cities like Las Vegas.

I'm often amused by Japanese replicas of famous landmarks in other countries. Apart from Tokyo Tower of course, there's the Statue of Liberty in Odaiba, the Manneken Pis in the Iya Valley and probably a few others as well. Not to mention Jesus Christ's grave in Aomori, although that's less of a replica and more of a fanciful re-imagining of the original fairy tale...
