Odaiba to Matsumoto Castle? 2014/7/29 19:46
In about a weeks time me and my dad are travelling to Japan. We're staying in Grand Pacific Le Daiba and ideally i'd like to spend one of our free days visiting Matsumoto Castle. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to get there by train from Odaiba, and how long it will take and the price please. We have a 7 day JR pass if that helps at all

1. 15 minute walk from your hotel to Tokyo Teleport Station (as stated on the hotel's site).

2. Rinkai Line to Shinjuku Station (\330 if i'm not wrong).

3. Ltd. Exp Azusa to Matsumoto (\6380 for non-reserved seats and about \6900 for reserved seats).

[2-3: 203 Minutes]

4. 15 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride on the "Town Sneaker" Northern Course bus loop line from JR Matsumoto Station

Matsumoto Castle, which looks nice, has some steep staircases inside. If you plan to climb Matsumoto Castle, you had better allot much time to that.

You might hope to take a taxi from the hotel to Tokyo Teleport Station instead of walking for about 900 meters. When a taxi runs smoothly, the one-way fare is estimated at 730 yen per car (i.e.365 yen per traveler).
Free shuttle buses for Tokyo Teleport Station are available only after 11:00.

: You can check the timetable on "Shuttle Bus Service" tab.

Osaki-bound trains from Tokyo Teleport Station (of TWR) run to Shinjuku Station (of JR-East) on TWR Rinkai Line + JR Saikyo Line.
However, if you hope to travel on the JR section (from Osaki Station) with Japan Rail Passes or JR East Passes, I recommend you get off in Osaki Station, settle the payment to TWR and start or resume using the passes.

"Town Sneaker" buses (operated by Alpico Kotsu) use the bus terminal near Oshiro Exit [Oshiro-guchi, East Exit] of Matsumoto Station.

How is the rest of your itinerary?

In about a weeks time me and my dad are travelling to Japan.

It will be muggy in coming several weeks in most parts of Japan.
Knowing some brands of sport drinks (containing sodium ions [Na+]) may help you.

P. S.:
A nice map for Odaiba visitors is offered by Tokyo Big Sight.
