Can I buy 2 types of the JR pass?

I've heard that visitor can only buy 1 type and only 1 set of JR pass per person, but I'm not sure.
Please anyone tell me
If I can buy those 2 type of JR pass at the same visit?(1 day west pass and Kansai wide area pass)

No, that is not correct. Some passes restrict the number that one can buy of that particular pass, but it doesn't matter if you have purchased other JR passes from other JR companies.
