Anyone familiar with voltages/watts in Japan?

Okay, so I bought this "machine" from China and I'm wondering if I can get it to work in Japan. I understand Japan uses 100V. I went to Yodobashi and they told me that it's impossible for this machine to work even with the appropriate adapters and converters. Please tell me it's not true.

Anyway, here are the specs of it.

Hmm, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work without the appropriate adapters and converters. Perhaps they meant that they didn't sell the adapters that you would need?

It doesn't work unless you have a transformer and adapter.

What is this mysterious machine?
I ask because the of the operating frequency - does this refer to what this item delivers or is it part of the power requirements?

You could go for a 230V supply, a common voltage and would fit in the middle of the range. If it works at 50-60Hz supply then, a standard 100V-230V step transformer would be fine. A 1.5kW supply would be ok, should be around 20-30,000 yen from a specialist shop or online.

Then you would just need adaptors based on the plug type and fit a 6A fuse for protection.

Either way, it should work fine. You'll just need a step-up transformer rated to 1000-1500 watts and maybe a plug converter. Amazon has them for around 15000 yen.

If it is an inductive load, then having a bit of headroom would be recommended, I would go for at least 1.5kV if not 2kV rated transformer. But if it that thing, you'll be fine. Not sure why you were told otherwise, unless they were confused by the odd voltage range or just don't stock big enough step up transformers.
