Bars/Drinks around Shinjuku, prices?

As part of my stay later this year i want to wander round Shinjuku one evening and find somewhere to drink (Shinjuku is a big place i know...)

I've heard about Golden Gai which looks interesting but is there anywhere else i should check out? somewhere more chilled out as opposed to busy busy busy. I'm 21 and i'll be on my own.

can people also tell me what i can expect to pay for some beer on tap? places will differ in price obviously...but i don't know whats considered cheap/reasonable/expensive.

and obviously there are other places to drink than Shinjuku but i don't plan on drinking much whilst on my trip. My hotel is the Park Hotel in Minato, if anyone knows of anywhere nice to go for a drink round there then i'd like to hear it.

I don't recommend you to visit the Golden-Gai if you are alone or first visitor without frequent visitors or guides.
The Golden-gai has a slightly different night club culture there include sub-cultures, minority-group cultures and bisexual communities.
Some bars in the Golden-gai area don't welcome first time visitor without frequent visitors.
The budget in the Golden-gai is from 2000-3000 Yen but normally drinkers spend at least 6000 Yen per person. The bars in Golden-gai normally charge you as so called "table charges" for between 500-1000 Yen per person no matter you make an order or not if you are in the bar. You can't decline this charge. The table charges can be taken at the other bars/restaurants especially those which open at night.

I will avoid golden gai, looking for someone more friendly !

Although there are bars in Golden Gai won't welcome you, Albatross is one we've always found to be very inviting.

I recommend you to visit "Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho"(Shinjuku memorial street) in Shinjuku West exit. Omoide Yokocho is more friendly restaurants/bars street compared to Golden-Gai.

But I think it's still challenging to visit Omoide Yokocho alone. The place is normally visit with a group of friends. There is no restriction that you are not allowed to visit there alone.
