Hakone for elderlys, toddlers, hotspring? 2014/8/23 04:34
Our family will be visiting Tokyo in November and we plan to stop by Hakone for 2 days/1 night and stay in one of the onsen hotels.

My wife and I will be traveling with 2 toddlers (w/ strollers) and our elderly moms (age 60+). Questions:
1) How baby- or elderly-friendly is Hakone, in terms of walking distance/stairs/steep-hills, etc.?
2) What are the age restrictions for onsen? Can our 2-, 5-, 60-year olds try?
3) Any recommendation for a good overnight hotel with decent onsen (ideally private)?

Thanks!

If your 2yr old isn't toilet trained, they shouldn't go in the onsen.

Hi
1) It may be tough for baby and elder people. But there are also many elder japanese people in Hakone.
2) No problem. But if you have tatoo, you may not be able to take public onsen. You need to cover it with seal or something.
3) Some hotels have a special plan for family with baby.
