My son is based in Iwakuni and I would like to visit him. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I vote for the cherry blossom season - usually in early April. The bridge with cherry blossoms looks amazing.

Cherry blossom time is nice but crowded. April or May is nice as it Autumn to see the lovely leaves at nearby Sandkyo Gorge, or even at Miyajima near Hiroshima. Whenever you go, enjoy!

Cherry blossom season is usually the best. Often that means late March to early April. You can get a good look at it at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0COOZXi66mMMany just go to see the bridge - but the other side is where all the trees are - and the castle is a nice place to see as well.
