Coin laundromats in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto 2014/9/21 18:58
Hello,
We will be travelling to Japan next week. We have one issue to organise. We will need to organise laundry to wash our clothes. Where is the nearest coin laundromats near:

-Hyatt Regency Tokyo?
-Hyatt Regency Osaka?
-Village Kyoto?

Also, do we need to bring our own detergent?

You don't need to bring laundry detergent. It is usually available for sale at laundromats, or in many cases the washing machines themselves dispense it automatically (although this can sometimes be hard to figure out if you don't read Japanese). At a few hotels it is sold at the front desk instead of in the laundry room. Or sometimes the hotel provides free liquid detergent in a dispenser in the laundry room.

Japanese washing machines use a lot less powdered detergent than ones in the United States (or probably some other countries, I don't know), so if you were to bring a normal portion from home and use it, it could be way too much.

Wow, given the ridiculously high price of Hyatts, you would at least expect an in-house laudry room...

Doesn't work that way. For example, most of the Hyatts, Hiltons etc charge for internet but it's alway free at business hotels.

Yes, in fact it's usually quite the opposite of what you might expect given the price. Higher priced hotels DON'T tend to have laundry rooms, but usually offer (expensive) laundry service instead.
