JR Pass 2014/9/23 16:23
May we use the JR Pass to travel from Tokyo-Osaka-Kinosaki-Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo instead of buying a separate Kanto Pass?
Thank you

You can do Tokyo-Osaka-Kinosaki-Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo with Japan Rail Pass.

Kanto Area Pass does not cover any part of Tokyo-Osaka-Kinosaki-Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo travel assuming you travel Tokyo-Osaka-Tokyo section via Shinkansen.

A 7-day Ordinary-Class Japan Rail Pass is suitable for your itinerary if you start from Tokyo and return within 7 calendar days.
If you hope to be in western Japan longer, JR regular tickets can be more cost-saving than a 14-day Japan Rail Pass.

Please note that Shinkansen trains run not via Osaka Station but via Shin-Osaka Station.
In Tokyo Metropolis, you can choose a Tokaido Shinkansen station from Tokyo and Shinagawa.
The name of the JR station in Kinosaki became Kinosaki Onsen in 2005. It is also spelled Kinosakionsen.

By the way, "Kinosaki-Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo" sounds a little roundabout.
Kyoto Station is closer than Osaka and Shin-Osaka Stations to Kinosaki Onsen and Tokyo Stations.
Unless you have a reason to be in a specific place on a specific day, you can make all your Osaka trips before your Kinosaki trip, and you do not need to make a detour to Osaka City on your way from Kyoto City to Tokyo Metropolis.

A JR Kanto Area Pass, which is offered by JR-East, cannot be valid on any section of another JR passenger railway company.
Tokaido Shinkansen (Tokyo -- Shinagawa -- Nagoya -- Kyoto -- Shin-Osaka) is operated by JR-Central.
JR non-Shinkansen sections among Kyoto, Shin-Osaka, Osaka and Kinosaki Onsen are operated by JR-West.
You cannot use a JR Kanto Area Pass on these JR but non-JR-East sections.
