Hello All..
I am planning my trip to Tokyo-Disneyland- Kyoto with my family..I am a bit confused with which area is better and convenient to stay, we will do sightseeing in Tokyo for 4 days, one day disney and two days in Kyoto. Is Shibuya a convenient area to stay with kids to take dinner and do some shopping before go back to hotel everynight? Or is Ginza more convenient.? We have JR tickets.. TIA

I recommend the Ginza. Slopes are often Shibuya. Young people are often Shibuya. Towards the Ginza many department stores, the restaurant is available. More of Ginza is close to go to Disneyland and Tokyo Station. If the hotel around the Hibiya, you can also walk Hibiya Park.

One evening visit AEON Makuhari(largest shipping mall in Tokyo bay area) maybe fun. http://en.makuharishintoshin-aeonmall.com/static/detail/access-map(not so far from TDR) Shibuya and Ginza is not good for kids from evening to next morning. In daytime(after 10am) no problem. Shibuya and Shinjuku feel noisy maybe by teen and young Japanese held always. If met drunkin' Japanese but really safe than your country :) Ginza night are silent by richmans will change from shopping street(expensive top brands in whole world). http://www.gojapango.com/tokyo/ginza_shopping.htmBTW,kids how old? boy? girl? both? No allergy by food? Also shopping what you want?

Alternatively you can stay one night in Disneyland. I would recommend Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay within the theme park, early bird can go as low as USD 150 for a huge room with 2 king size beds and 2 single beds(sleep 6!).
