I will arrive at Nakatsu Station for an overnight stay. May I ask if there are any recommended inexpensive Japanese eateries to try Kyushu food at the Station? Thank you.

I am not familiar with Nakatsu, but when I want to eat in an unfamiliar place, I always check Tabelog. In this case, I will just google 中津 食べログ. The result is below. http://goo.gl/qGcP9LI set the price range to less than 2000 yen. チキンハウス中津本店 looks good to me. http://goo.gl/XbESlsNakatsu is famous for Kara-age or Japanese style fried chicken, and this diner is that kind.

Thanks for your advice Nakatsu seems not a very popular destination for foreigners and it is precisely that I like - to be immersed in Japanese culture. Thank you.

In general, food and railway stations go together. Especially if you're looking for everyday, mid-range, food.
In larger cities, where you get dept. stores on top of train stations, the top floors of the stores might well go from mid-range food to fairly high-end food (although, of course, they're not likely to have Michelin-starred places).

Hi Winter Visitor Your advice is useful. I will hunt for local food at the train stations.
