Travel to Ainokura from Matsumoto 2014/10/3 22:16
We have booked our itinerary but having trouble finding transport from Matsumoto to Ainokura.

Itinerary:
21 Oct: leave Tokyo for Matsumoto
22 Oct: Kamikochi hike
23 Oct: leave Matsumoto for Ainokura (stay in a farm house; already booked)
24 Oct: leave Ainokura for Kyoto

The travel options we found were:
– Train from Matsumoto to Takayama; bus to Ainokura
– Train from Matsumoto to Takaoka; bus to Ainokura
Both options were approx. 4 hours.

* Is there a quicker way to Ainokura?
* Should we just cancel Ainokura and spend the night somewhere else between Matsumoto and Kyoto?

I recommend you to select bus from Matsumoto to Takayama.
There is not direct train way from Matsumoto to Takayama.
As my opinion, Better route is
Tokyo,Matsumoto,Takayama,Ainokura,Kyoto(via Takayama).
From Ainokura to Kyoto via Takayama, ride JR LIMITED EXPRESS WIDEVIEW HIDA and then you may change JR Shinaknsen from Nagoya to Kyoto.
