Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/10/9 01:52
Hi,

I plan to get the earliest bus to reach Meitetsu on 23rd of Nov (fingercross the peak colour would still linger as the autumn starts really early this year)

this is the only website I think contain the info I need yet it's all in Japanese.
http://timetable.meitetsu.co.jp/bus/BusLine.aspx?param=3#kensakutop

Could someone please direct me to the Meitetsu bus schedule on that day ie. 23rd of Nov or during November month? I need the info such as:
1. the earliest departure time from Higashiokazaki station
2. i heard it's getting dark quicker in Korankei during autumn, I plan to stay to see the illumination along the river. What time does it start illuminated?
3. The departure time from Korankei probably around 7pm-8pm the latest as I need to continue my journey back to Osaka

Please kindly advice

TIA

Hi William5

great to hear from you. I've read your replies on any other posts and wait for you to reply mine too :D

thanks for the info. it's exactly what i need. just need a bit of explanation since it's a bit weird when google translated.

1. so the bus final destination is to Asuke. and it starts as early as 6.36am, followed by 8.30 then 9.10 and 10.10?
2. How to change the date as I think I might switch the itinerary to 22Nov. I change the date from the scroll down but then it asks me to choose from the district or facility name or direct input of the station name :(
3. i also find this link that shows the bus stops around HigashiOkazaki Station
http://www.meitetsu-bus.co.jp/rosen/higasiokazaki
which bus stop number is it for Korankei?

Also William5 , if you don't mind since I've read your thread on Toyota-shi and Gujo Hachiman trips. I have several queries in regards to those trips on the links below. Perhaps you could assist me further.
Toyota-shi query:

Gujo-Hachiman query:

Thank You for your time and attention. I really2 appreciate it.

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/10/12 03:11
Yes, the final destination of the mentioned bus line is Asuke. It leaves on bus stop #4 just outside Higashi Okazaki train station north exit.

As for the schedule I don't have any problem changing the date when I do a search. On the link I listed just change the date “ú to 22 and click the ŒŸõ button on the right and you can get the schedule for Sat Nov 22, 2014. In case you are having further problem, here is the schedule and it is the same as Nov 23.
http://timetable.meitetsu.co.jp/bus/BusKekka.aspx?Param=3&JCode=4101&K...

A word of caution about visiting Korankei during autumn foliage season, it is EXTREMELY popular and you can expect heavy traffic. We rent a car and did a day trip from Nagoya, only to be stuck in traffic for 2-3 hrs during the last 7 km of the journey. The returning drive was not much better and we nearly miss the closing hour of the rental car outlet in Nagoya. It would be even worst during weekends, so be warned and set aside ample time to avoid rushing in and out like us.

As for your query on Toyota Plant I could not help as we haven't been there. For Gujo Hachiman we again drove there to avoid infrequent train plus bus connection. If you are after some food replica DIY a smaller place than Iwasaki Sample Village is Sample Kobo which is conveniently located in Gujo Hachiman town centre.

While visiting Gujo Hachiman during autumn, don't miss going up to the castle which offers splendid koyo view.

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/10/14 23:19
William5

Thank You so much for the info and changing the schedule to the 22nd for me. Somehow when I change the date and month, the page won't budge from the 23rd. Perhaps it's my browser error then.

Yes, I am well aware of the Korankei during weekend situation from your previous posts. Too bad , I don't have any choice in my itinerary to move it around :(

For the Gujo Hachiman, is there any bus stop in front of the sample Iwasaki Village that bounds to the city centre (Jokomachi Bus stop area)? I read that sample Iwasaki is the frontrunner and has more varieties within the shop so it's my first priority unless the public transport is really bad around it.

and woowww thank you for recommending me the view up in the castle. I really wasn't planning to go there before but if it's an autumn spot then it's a must see. most castles are hanami spots and not kouyou so i guess this one is an exception.

In regards to the Toyota tour, I sent an email to Global Toyota and less than a day already received a very2 helpful information. anyone interested with the access info just lemme know, I'll email it to you.

Cheers

Iwasaki Sample Village is not far from town center and a walk from Gujo Hachiman Tourist Association main office is less than 15 min.

It is on the following bus line and the stop to get off is ”ª”¦é“ì’¬

Hi,

I forgot to ask the Meitetsu bus schedule back to the Higashiokazaki station from Korankei. Before I thought well going back should be just fine but then I just realize that the bus to Korankei is only one per hour so better prepare the schedule for going back too.

This is the link provided previously (thanks alot William5 :) ) for the trip to Korankei from Higashiokazaki
http://timetable.meitetsu.co.jp/bus/BusKekka.aspx?Param=3&JCode=4101&K...
I dont know where to find the schedule for the trip back to Higashiokazi from Korankei on 22nd of Nov 2014

Please help

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/10/27 14:29
Hi William5

Thank You for providing the return timetable :)

ohh noo the last bus departs at 17.51, I plan to stay until the illumination time which should start around sunset at 5pm?

I'm afraid there's going to be a very long queue for the last bus as it's weekend too. Is there any other way to reach Nagoya or Higashiokazaki from Korankei in later hour?

I see the bus schedule from Higashiokazaki to Asuke via Korankei still operates until 19.10. could I reach Nagoya from Asuke?

Please kindly advice

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/10/27 22:56
50 min is more than adequate to take in the lighted mt slope which is just a couple of min walk from the bus terminal. True that there will be long queue for the bus but depending on the on-the-spot situation more buses will be dispatched if needed.

Note that the official illumination event will have ended by Nov 9 this year. The slope will be lighted up if there is still koyo but won't be as spectacular as the actual illumination. BTW, I have doubt about the autumn colour during late Nov in Korankei, especially we read that this year the season arrives a bit early.

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/10/27 23:45
Hi William5

Thanks for the info, really appreciate it. It's a relief that there might be a chance additional buses would be prepared.

Previously I put Korankei on the 28th Nov itinerary but realize there's huge chance it'd be only branches left due to early autumn so I move it forward to the 22nd.

There's only last year's autumn report found in Japan Guide about Korankei so I only have very little information on hand. It says that the autumn there is around Mid-Late Nov (the same period w/ Tofukuji) but according to last year's report 19Nov was still approaching peak w/ sections further than the river was still in early stage)

I do wonder but based on the reports, it seems that Tofukuji still reaches peak earlier than Korankei?

I do hope the peak period would still stay by the time of my visit *fingercross (last year report hinted that peak should be around 22-26th of Nov). Hopefully this year won't advance too much :D

Hi William5

do you think I'd better move forward my Korankei schedule? I plan to visit Tofukuji on the 19th and a bit anxious it's too early as well though the autumn started earlier this year

TIA

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/10/28 08:33
When it comes to the unpredictable weather your guess is as good as mine. We went to Korankei mid Nov and koyo was still good with the illumination kept on. I suppose the illumination dates to certain extend reflects the situation. This year it runs from Nov 1 to Nov 9. On the same trip about a week later we too went to Tofuku-ji and the autumn colour was just right for my liking - not only red but a variety of yellow, orange and red. By the end of the month I would expect it to be mostly red.

That was our experience in that particular year and the condition may vary from year to year, During mid Nov I would go for Korankei before Tofuku-ji, hoping koyo can still be enjoyed in Korankei whereas it will not be too early for Tofuku-ji.

Re: Korankei kouyou 2014/11/4 18:58

autumn started earlier this year

http://www.tenki.jp/kouyou/5/26/30227.html

http://asuke.info/blog/

Watching the two websites above I have the impression Kouyou in Korankei has only just started. Is that correct to assume that late November would be a better bet to visit?
My original plan is to visit on the 18th Nov. should I change? Could anyone please advise.

@ liem
Read past year reports Nov 2013,2012,,, (2nd link Asuke blog)

kouyou life is not so short like Sakura full blooming.

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/11/4 21:08
Hi liem

i think (just a prediction still) 20th is saver. 2 days extra w/ supportive weather could make huge difference. I don't think it would last until Late Nov as the autumn starts earlier this year.

It's true that kouyou spans much longer than hanami but as William5 stated above some spots tend to finish sooner than others too.

BTW, in regards to the links you provide, what is the kouyou report from previous years? I only find 1 yr of Korankei autumn report in Japan Guide. So I make my prediction based on that.

I put my schedule on the 22nd and hoping the kouyou still last by that time. I couldn't move the Korankei itinerary anywhere again.

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/11/4 22:16
Josie,

http://asuke.info/blog/
On the right side of the page you could select report up to 2010.

The past 4 years records were actually fairly similar, best colour toward the second half of Nov. However, unsure if autumn really starts earlier this year.
22nd sounds quite save.
I am watching the report closely; I am not leaving until the 15th, still time to adjust.

Re: Korankei Meitetsu Bus 2014/11/4 22:34
Hi Liem,

yes hopefully on 22nd autumn is still good aside from the high traffic of Saturday :D

do you go to tofukuji, higashiyama area? what's ur schedule for the autumn may i know?

here's my schedule
18th miyajima
19th tofukuji, yoshiminedera, eikando or nanzenji for night illumination
20th arashiyama
21st nanzenji , eikando , kodaiji & kiyomizu for night illumination (i was advised to avoid kyoto on this weekend due to public holiday, at first I want to move it to 24th but afraid that nanzenji and eikando have passed their peak and i could not break down the nanzenji eikando w/ higashiyama itinerary)
22nd korankei
and the next autumn spot is 25th in kenrokuen which hopefully the maples are still good there but it's not a really autumn spot anyway
then on 27th i'd go to Gujo, the castle there is great in autumn but i think it might pass as well. i read an article that even in 30th oct it's approaching peak already. if you have time and could move your schedule around , u might want to try visiting gujo castle. a very rare castle for koyou spot
