Ryokan with Private Onsen, Snow and Views 2014/10/10 08:56
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for Ryokan that might suit?

Date: End of Feb 2015.
Location: Don't mind.
Budget: 15,000-30,000 per person
Views: Mountains preferred but don't mind.
Occasion: Wedding Anniversary

An onsen attached to the room would be fine but happy to just have access to a private onsen which can be booked for a couple.

I was thinking there might be somewhere in the alps toward Nagano that might suit? Happy to go to Tohoku or Hokkaido if that's a better option.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Hotel Zuiho at Akiu, outside Sendai, (easy to get to by their own shuttle bus from Sendai station) has a Ryokan section that is totally sublime. Might be a bit more than your budget though
We stayed there for our Wedding Anniversary, and it was amazing.
We had access to the public onsen, but our Ryokan room had its own outdoor (AND indoor!) baths, and views over the local gorge. There would definitely be snow in February.
We even had squirrels on the trees in the morning..
zuiho@karakami-kankou.co.jp: they have an English speaking staff member who is extremely helpful.
Good Luck!

If you are going next year, you should check out OnsenTipster.com for hot spring search!

Or ryokan-or.com (I think).

Search Yukimi onsen(snow covered onsen).

Unsure about the snow, but very highly recommended :

Well, you'd surely find lots to fit the bill in Tohoku (e.g. Nyuto Onsen, Zao Onsen) and Hokkaido, but that time of year it would be also be wonderful in the Nagano area, as you suggested. I haven't stayed at this place but it looks simply amazing. http://www.ichizaemon.com/lang_en/index.html The monkey park is nearby, as is a sake brewery.

Just wanted to say thank you everyone for all of your useful replies! Some of them look very nice. Takefue looks amazing but slightly outside our budget. Amazinga's search suggestion was great. We managed to find a couple of others that look like they suit us.

Kashiwaya:-

Kakurean:-

Finally managed to sort out flights so now just need to decide on a ryokan. Will probably pick Kakurean in the next couple of days.

If the budget allows I might try and include Sal1980's suggestion also as it does look very nice and would make a great place to see the Snow Monkeys from! May even just choose Ichizaemon instead of Kakurean.

Thanks everyone for all of the excellent suggestions!
