Hi,
My families of 4 will be visiting Kyushu for the first time this coming Dec and would appreciate some advice.
On one of the day, we plan to drive from Kurokawa to visit the Takachiho gorge, then from Takachiho to Mount Aso crater and then finally to Kumamoto. Is this do-able?
If this is too rush, we are considering to stay somewhere between Mt Aso and Kumamoto. Does anyone has any recommendation which town/cities would be good for the night?

Are you travelling by car or train? If by car , then it's probably way too rushed. Those sites are quite distant from each other, and you'll basically be spending the entire time in the car driving from place to place.
