Route 53 to Koyasan still closed?

In the first week of December I plan to drive from Shingu to Koyasan. I plan to follow route 168 and then route 53 to Koyasan. The street view of Google Maps (made in November 2012) shows that route 53 is closed near the Tenguki Pass. Does anyone know if this route is now open? If it is still closed, what is the best route from 168 to Koyasan? The reason Im following route 168 is that I want to visit Tanize bashi on the Totsukawa.

R168(National road) : one closing info but detour route exist no problem today

53 is not wide and blind curves(corners) a lot
be cafeful and head lights on recommend.
Also no gas station and no covenience stores
stomachs full both(yours and car) ASAP.
