South Kansai 2014/10/28 15:46
Greetings to all,

I am travelling to Japan alone from 08 - 12 December.

I have booked a night in Osaka (08 Dec) and then also at Koyasan (09 Dec).

After my stay at Koyasan, I plan to travel to:

1) Shirahama
2) Kumano Sanzan
3) Hashigui-iwa, the beautiful coastline
4) Ise Shima, for Meoto Iwa
5) Nagoya

I am thinking if it is possible to cover 1) to 4) and reach Nagoya on 10 December.

Please advise me whether it is feasible or not. And please let me know how do I get around the area of South of Kansai.

Thank you so much.

Regards,
Soon

I did that on coach. Travel company.
Starting from Shirahama and covering more attractions than what you stated.

I thus believe it is possible.

From Koya to Shirahama, you may or may not be able to take a bus. If there isn't such a service you would have to train back to Osaka. Koya tourist information counter would help you with this.
I recommend train most of the way after Shirahama.
Reaching Ise requires bus. Or a taxi with willing to splurge.
Ise to Nagoya can be done using train.

Hi Joshua, thank you for your kind comment.

I just checked via HyperDia, that the train rides take up to 2 hours from Shirahama to Kumano, another 2 hours from Kumano to Ise, another 3 hours from Ise to Nagoya.

Is it really possible to cover everything on just one day (10 Dec, after checking out at Koyasan)?

Thanks and Regards

You won't be reaching Nagoya in the day.
Eat your dinner on the train.

And you won't be able to leisurely walk about.
Take a photo or two of the waterfall. Feel some negative ions.
Since for Ise, you are just seeing the wedded rocks and not entering Ise Jinga this saves titme.

So the answer is Yes.

One day tour for such diverse places is impossible.

To go to Kumano Hongu (One of the Kumano Sanzan) from Koyasan, you start at 8:57 and reach 14:23.

http://www2.tb-kumano.jp/en/transport/pdf/Hongu-Koyasan-via-Gojo.pdf

From Kumano Hongu to Kii-Tanabe, you start at 15:25 and arrive at 17:28. I think you must stay here or at Shirahama.

You have other two shrines, Shirahama, Kushimoto, Shionomisaki, Ise etc. It's impossible.

Well, I did Himeji castle, Amanohashidate, and reached Kyoto in a day. Plus it I was fighting the rain.
So I think this itineary is possible.

We left the hotel at about 9am too.
