JR Rail Pass vs individual tickets

I'm travelling to Japan in late Nov 14 for business trip.
Arriving in Tokyo then heading to ShinKobe. Thereafter, from kobe to Okayama then back to Tokyo.
Is it more economical if i were to buy the JR pass instead of each individual ticket?
Pls advise
