We are planning to go to Tokyo for our vacation in August 2015 and planning to use 7days JR Pass. My concern is that can we use JR pass for our trips? Is it better to buy JR pass or regular tickets? My schedule: July-31/ Aug-2 - Tokyo Aug-3/ Aug-5 - Tokyo to MT Fuji Aug-6/ Aug-8 - MT Fuji to Kyoto Aug-9/ Aug-11 - Kyoto to Osaka
Thanks

We have just returned from a 2 weeks trip to Japan and the JR pass was a blessing and served us well. It was extremely convenient having the pass rather than keeping several tickets for one journey as there are always train changes involved.
However your itinerary seems pretty straightforward so tickets should work for you but the JR pass ismore convenient and has value for money.

For that itinerary, the JR Pass is NOT more convenient or have value. individual tickets will be much cheaper.

As pointed out in every one of these threads, a 7 day pass roughly equals a Tokyo to Osaka return trip. You are only going one way, so normal tickets will cost far far less.
Yes a pass is more convenient if you like throwing money away. It is of no real use in Kyoto, and of little use in Osaka.

Yes, the JR pass is valid on those routes. Just note that you cannot take the Nozomi shinkansen between Tokyo and Kyoto with a JR Pass.
