Shirakawago light-up

Hello! I'd like to visit Shirakawago light-up during one of the weekends available in January And February, but since all the organized Tours are already sold out, I'm planning to go by myself . The problem is that there is no way to come back to Takayama in the evening or neitheir to spend the night in the village as every inn is fully booked for the event. Do you have any suggestions please ?

You may want to rent car and stay at Kanazawa or Takayama.

I've looked up in the nohibus timetable that Wenwen provided, but unfortunately on Saturday and on Sundays the last bus from Shirakawago to Takayama is at 17.20. Maybe is there a bus later to some where else, to Gifu for example, so that I can go away from Shirakawago in the evening and sleep where I can find a place.thank you if you would like to reply.

I think the information doesn't show on english website. The link I provided is only available in Japanese. I use google translate, it shows that the last bus from Shirakawago leaves at 19:15 and arrive Takayama at 20:05 on these dates

January 17 (Sat) - the 24th (Sat) - the 25th (May) · 31 (soil)

I believe taxi will cost more but I'm not sure the price difference. Try to call them or email them. I suggest you can write them email in english and Japanese (use google translate). They should have someone can reply you in english.

this is a bus tour (a half day. sightseeing tour). not a public transportation.
I think you can't choose a half way(from Shirakawago to Takayama).
