Travel to Kamakura from Tokyo

I need to travel from Shinjuku to Kamakura. I am planning to take the JR line, Shonan-shinjuku. Based on Google Map, I will alight at Kamakura station but based on Trip adviser, its suggesting that I alight at Ofuna and change to Yokosuka Line to Kamakura. Which is the correct way?
Can Suica/Pasmo card be used in local train and buses in Kamakura?

if you have a full day, and would like t se more, then I suggest alighting at Kita-Kamakura, and returning from kamamkura station. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3113.htmlThe Diabahtsu Hiking trail is lovely: and the temples around Kita Kamakura well worth visiting. Enjoy!

"Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass" by Odakyu (not JR rail) recommend than "Kamakura Enoshima Pass" by JR. Kamakura and Enoshima area packed usual as one day trip from Tokyo by IC card only no discount no save money. Kamakura area no need by bus by walk or rent a bike(cycle) usual by "jinrikisha(rickshaw)" best as Japan experience. http://makkurokurosk.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2012-04-28

Hi ECC,
I suppose going to Hokokuji I have to take a bus as by judging the distance, walking is seriously a pain from Kamakura station. I don't mind cycling but I really need to know the way.

Get off at Ofuna. Take the Shonan monorail to Shonan-Enoshima. Then take the Enoden line to Kamikura. You can stop off at Hase and check out the Daibutsu (giant Buddha). You can actually stand inside it. The private lines don't take Suica, but the tickets are cheap, the ticket machines are easy to use and the rides are great.
