Access to Shiogama Shrine 2014/11/6 10:15
Your travel guide indicates there are 200+ steps to reach the entrance to this jinja. It also indicate there are "less strenuous" approaches. For someone with walking difficulties, is it possible to reach the jinja by alternative approaches and, if so, what/where are these alternatives? Thanks much!

Most people probably avoid the main stairs entrance anyway and take the not particularly steep western approach from Hon-Shiogama Station. It's a paved road the whole way, so if you take a taxi you can have the driver drop you off pretty much right at the shrine buildings.

But not sure taxi can reached (1) possible or not.
Private car cannot enter after (2) and (3) I know.
(1) is shrines parking not public entrance by car.
But all taxi drivers knows well no worry.

Above map printed out recommend for explain to driver.
don't know your travel date/time and numbers of group
regular taxi is 4 passengers most catch at taxi stand of station.

And don't forget take a pic "Maguro(Tuna) post" before or after taxi ride.

"Maguro" means "Tuna" in Japanese. In sushi restaurant "Toro" usual.
