Thank you so very much for the info. Please tell if it can be a day trip from Tokyo. How far in advance can they tell u when it will be open. I will plan my trip to Japan according to that next year.

Yes, it is possible.

It has been opening on April 16 or 17 for the last years. It is likely to be the same in 2015. I think they will announce the exact date in January at the latest.

Do we need to buy the tickets for this route very much in advance or we can buy the tickets after we reach Tokyo. Can the tickets be bought in Tokyo. We would like to come back after seeing the snow corridor. How much time it takes for the return trip from tetsemaya station to the snow corridor. Please help.

Do we need to buy the tickets for this route very much in advance or we can buy the tickets after we reach Tokyo. You do not need to buy the tickets in advance, at all. If you approach from the Toyama side, it is possible to make reservations for the cablecar, which can be very convenient on busy days. But it is not required. How much time it takes for the return trip from tetsemaya station to the snow corridor.Do you mean Tateyama? The timetables are here: http://www.alpen-route.com/en/transportation/timetable-faresOn busy days there can be waiting times along the way.

At which point of the alpine route is the snow corridor. The basics are explained here: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e7550.htmlWhat time should we start from Tokyo in the morning if we want to return to Tokyo the same day.As early as possible. The first shinkansen in direction of Toyama is likely to depart around 6am, although the timetables have not been published yet.
