9% of Work visa applications rejected? 2014/11/20 15:41
I understand that 9% of people who have a job offer in Japan and apply for a visa are rejected (I saw this stat at a job hunting seminar at a Japanese University, it said 91% obtain a visa so I assume 9% are rejected).

Does anybody know why people are rejected work visas if they meet the requirements?

By definition, if you are rejected it means that Immigration considered that you don't meet the requirements for the particular status you are seeking. A possible reason is that the job was deemed to fall outside the scope of the status (for example you applied for the Engineer status but your job does not involve engineering tasks, like basic machinery maintenance).

Sorry, confusing wording, I meant to say that the job involves only basic tasks like maintenance and not engineer-grade ones.
