Transportation between Osaka and Tokyo

Hey Forum users,
Would like to get some advice here.
I am planning 4 days in Osaka and then travel to Tokyo for the next 4 days with a friend in mid Dec 2014. My questions as below:
1. Am I able to buy Suica card from JR counter in Kansai airport (upon arrival) and use it getting around in Osaka and Tokyo subways and then return the card for refund at JR counter in Narita airport (departing)?
2. If I go for the Nozomi Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Tokyo Station, can I get to see Mt Fuji (if weather permits) on this particular train? Which side of the train (toward Tokyo) should I keep a look out? Around what timing into the starting journey I can see Mt Fuji (I can set alarm in case I fall asleep)? Eg roughly 1 hr 30mins later after start journey?
3. Btw, my ending station is Ueno Station. Should I stop at Shinagawa Station or Tokyo Station to transfer to JR line will be more convenient?
Appreciate some helps and advices pls. Thank you!

1. No, but you can buy an Icoca card. You can't retirn it in Narita.
3. Both work. Shinagawa may be easier to navigate.

No, Suica is not sold in the Kansai Region. But you can buy an Icoca card. However, the Icoca card cannot be refunded at Narita Airport. If that 500 yen deposit is so important to you, you can buy an Icoca card for the Kansai Region, refund it before travelling to Tokyo and then do the same with a Suica card in the Tokyo region.

Yes.
Which side of the train (toward Tokyo) should I keep a look out?
Initially it can sometimes be seen in the distance on the right side of the train. But when passing the mountain at a close distance, it will be on the left side of the train.
Around what timing into the starting journey I can see Mt Fuji (I can set alarm in case I fall asleep)?
I think you pass by the mountain closely about 110 minutes into the journey (if using a Nozomi).
Btw, my ending station is Ueno Station. Should I stop at Shinagawa Station or Tokyo Station to transfer to JR line will be more convenient?
Definitely Tokyo Station. Transfer at Tokyo Station will save you 12 minutes in possibly packed urban trains. It is just as easy to transfer at Tokyo Station as at Shinagawa Station. Depending on which car you sit in in the Nozomi, the actual transfer time at Tokyo Station can also be faster.

Thank you both for your advise & info!
May I know further:
1) can I buy Icoca card in Kansai airport? If yes what is the name of the counter? Or do I get it from machine? Possible to return this card in Shin-osaka station, before I board the Shinkansen to Tokyo?
2. Should I or can I buy Shinkansen tickets at Kansai airport JR counter early instead of Shin-osaka station? I worry that tickets are sold out my journey date 23 dec to Tokyo due to peak season.
Thank you.

can I buy Icoca card in Kansai airport?Yes. And if you are first heading to a destination along a JR line in Osaka, Kobe or Kyoto first, it is worth considering buying the card as part of the Icoca&Haruka package: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2359_icoca_haruka.htmlIf yes what is the name of the counter? Or do I get it from machine?Icoca cards can be purchased at most JR ticket machines. The Icoca&Haruka package in the ticket office for foreign travelers. Both are easily found at JR Kansai Airport Station. Possible to return this card in Shin-osaka station, before I board the Shinkansen to Tokyo?Yes. At a ticket office of JR West (as opposed to JR Central which also has some ticket offices at Shin-Osaka Station). Should I or can I buy Shinkansen tickets at Kansai airport JR counter early instead of Shin-osaka station?I would buy them as early as I know my departure time. If those are known by the time you arrive in Japan, then I would purchase them at Kansai Airport Station. I worry that tickets are sold out my journey date 23 dec to Tokyo due to peak season.December 23 is unlikely to come with any excessive travel activity. It is not until the 27th that the peak starts.

Hi Uji, thank you so much for your reply and info!
Sorry to bother again.
I am looking at Hyperdia for Shinkansen Nozomi from Shin-Osaka to JR Ueno (my hotel is near Ueno station).
The search showed this:
Shin-Osaka Station to Tokyo Station by Shinkansen Nozomi, and from Tokyo Station to JR Ueno by JR Keihin-Tohoku/Negishi Line Rapid.
What is this JR Keihin train? I was expecting the search to give me JR Yamanote line from Tokyo station to Ueno station. Are both same lines?
If I have ticket which include JR keihin, am I allowed to use it on JR Yamanote line.
Should I just buy ticket for Shin-Osaka to Tokyo instead of Ueno, and then use Suica card to carry on my journey from Tokyo station to Ueno station?
Appreciate your advise pls. Thank you.

The Keihin Tohoku line runs parallel with the Yamanote thru part of Tokyo. It uses the same station but different platforms. Hyperdia suggested the Keihin Rapid as it's a bit faster because it skips minor stations along the way. You can take either the Yamanote or the Keihin (rapid or ordinary) from Tokyo (or Shinagawa) to Ueno.

Thank you for the info & clarification, Guest!
May I ask further......
When I buy the Shinkansen ticket from Shin-osaka counter, do you advise that I tell ticket office my destination as Ueno Station?
In case I have difficulty finding the JR Keihin Tohoku line platform, can I use the same ticket at the gate for JR Yamamote line? Do I strictly have to use JR Keihin Tohoku line train?
Thank you.
