Nagoya trip to Shirakawa-go & Takayama

Hi all

I'm planning to go to the above places. Should I book a hotel in Gifu or other area which convenient to go these 2 places?

Is 3 days trip enough for these 2 places?

My suggestion would be to book 2 nights accommodation in Takayama. This way - you will be able to catch a bus for one day to Shirakawa-go as a couple of hours is normally long enough to see the town.

any recommendation for the hotel? my budget is SGD 120 per night.

It's nothing fancy - but a single or double room is clean and convenient here. They also speak English quite well.....

3D2N should not be a problem. Like the earlier post mentioned, you can stay 2 nights in Takayama and do 1 day trip to Shirakawago (just an hour bus journey from Takayama) or you can stay 1 night in Shirakawago instead of 2 nights in Takayama. Personally I would recommend to spend a night in one of the farmhouse in SHirakawago. It's fun and unique experience, most of them includes dinner and breakfast. You can get to try authentic Japanese cuisine.

You can also call Shirakawago Tourism Association - www.shirakawa-go.org/english/e_hotel.html. I booked Kanjiya minshuku via Booking.com.
