Jr pass or just suica?

Hello
I have a 10 day trip coming up where I will be flying to Tokyo (probably Haneda as this is the first flight but could be Narita as I am flying standby) and on the same day I arrive I will take the Shinkansen to Nagoya to visit family. I only need one return train ticket Tokyo to Nagoya. I will be in Nagoya for 3 nights then am then spending the rest of my time in Tokyo.
My question is, would it be cheaper to buy a return ticket to Nagoya and then just travel around Tokyo on a suica card? Or would it be worthwhile getting the JR pass? I am staying with a jaoanese family in Tokyo who's closest station is a metro station on which I can't use JR pass so I will have to buy suica no matter what.
I am finding it very difficult to find an easy to use site to discover the fares from Tokyo to Nagoya in English and would appreciate any help you can give me!
Thank you 😊

If Tokyo-Nagoya-Tokyo is your only major trip, a Japan Rail Pass will not pay off: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3302.htmlI recommend to purchase regular tickets for the shinkansen and use a Suica card for all the urban transportation in Tokyo and Nagoya.
