Would like to enquire about the situation at Mount Aso, i.e. is it worth to visit after the eruption, is it open to public etc. Thank you

All you can do is check this site. However, with such a recent eruption, the main crater area probably isn't going to be open any time soon. The Kusasenri and museum areas are open as well as the roads up and down (but not the one to the crater). http://www.aso.ne.jp/~volcano/eng/
