Crab season - all you can eat buffet? 2014/12/15 07:05
I will be in Japan end dec - particularly will be travelling to Nagoya, Shirakawago, Takayama, Ise, Okuhida onsen.
Are there any restaurants or places where there is a buffet mostly crab dishes? I saw from this tour link - http://www.yokoso-japan.jp/en/76220.html

but cant seem to find it on the internet. Recommendation?

Thanks

Don't know about all you can eat, but search for Kani Doraku. It's very famous.

Good luck!

A lot of your places are inland.

For fresher crab, I'd visit a crab restaurant in Nagoya. Googling "crab restaurant Nagoya" gets you a fair few results, some close to the JR station.

Personally, I'd rather go to a regular restaurant then an all-you-can-eat place. Speciality crab places will do multi-course meals where you get to try crab in all different forms (sushi, grilled, chawan mushi, nabe, etc), at competitive prices.

(Of course, lots of the crab is actually from the Arctic, not from Japan at all, so "freshness" is a relative concept).
