Hi, I will go to japan next spring about 2 weeks. The place that I will visit is Tokyo, Kyoto, osaka, himeji and Hiroshima. The question is can you recommend any local neighborhood area at Tokyo, or Osaka? I would like to know the real life of japan. Not just go to tourist spots area.
(Sorry for my English)

Setagaya in Tokyo

Any parts inbetween Osaka station and Namaba station
Any from Tennoji to Sumiyoshi stations
Anything south of Sumiyoshi station is very local. Old towns and old neighborhoods.

That's Tokyo
Kichijoji and Sangenjaya, Shimokitazawa, Shimotakaido, I like such as Kyodo.
Local feel better it gets into a little back road.
After, per Monzennakacho also interesting.
When it is fully residential area, it does not much feel the fun.

Visit Yanaka and Sendagi area in Tokyo. Sawano-Ya is available to stay in the area.

In Osaka, San-nou, Nishinari-ku area. 1-2 chome is a typical classic residential area and 3 chome is a former sexual district.
