Hiring a van with English speaking driver 2014/12/17 23:42
May I know if there is any company in Hokkaido, which allows us (8 of us) to hire a van with English speaking driver to pick us from Sapporo to Asahikawa, Sounkyo, Biei, Furano, Shikotsuko and Chitose airport. We have our own itinerary, so only driver to drive us to the places.

There are several charter companies that can accommodate your needs:

Note that is a relatively expensive way to travel.

Thank you for the replies. We in a group of 8 persons. So taxi and trains will be inconvenient, with our baggages.

May I know that is the petrol rate in Hokkaido now?

What are the toll charges from:
Sapporo to Asahikawa.
Asahikawa to Sounkyo
Sounkyo to Biei to Furano
Furano to Shikotsuko
Shikotsuko to Chitose airport

Thank you.

Why don't you just hire a van and drive yourself?
Driving in Hokkaido is relatively easy.

Can car driving licence use for driving van for 8 pax? I only know we need to convert to International Driving licence.

Your international drivers licence is good for 10pax including driver in japan.
Gas price around Tokyo is now 145yen/L .
Hokkaido would be a bit more expensive.

I have read in http://hokkaidoguide.com/vehicle_hire.php
That I need to hire a driver for mini bus. For 8 passenger van (with luggage),am I right to say that I need mini bus? That means I still need to hire a driver :-(

A van and a minibus are two different things.

Try tocoo car rental, they list 8 passenger vans as being available. http://www2.tocoo.jp/en

For 8 passengers plus luggage you will need something larger than an 8 person van. A ten person van would probably work if you can find one. Try toyota rentacar, they had ten person vans the last time I checked.

https://rent.toyota.co.jp/service/car/class/charge.aspx?searchKbn=4
W4 Class
HiAce Grand Cabin (ハイエースグランドキャビン) 10pax Van

This is you can drive with your license.
Enough space for baggage in the back .
