I don't mind if it is far as long as I can reach with local bus, cheap, and with proper place to place a small luggage.

Honshu ? Are you referring to the main island本州 ? 本州 virtually means the whole mainland of Japan.
There are hundreds if not thousand of onsens/ rotenburos in Honshu. Take your pick !!!

Where are you located?
Tokyo? I take it?
Tokyo has Odaiba monogatari.
Something out of the city would be Kanagawa, Hakone, or Kamakura.
If Kyoto, head to Shirahama, or Arima.
There are others but if you are travelling by bus these are your options.

Thank you. I have been to Kamakura and Hakone.
Sorry, I am looking for those still surrounded by snNatoma. nery in mid to late May.
I will travel from Osaka to Kyoto to Tokyo to Yamagata/Kurobe Alpine route/Kamikochi and return from Nagoya
