Ryoanji to Arashiyama

Hello,
I am going to Kyoto next month and I have planned to go Kinkaku-Ji to Royan-Ji to Arashiyama.
May I ask how can I get from Royan-Ji to Arashiyama station? Is taking the train possible?
After visting Tenryu-Ji and Bamboo grove in Arashiyama, I would probably have about half a day left.
Do anyone have any suggestions on how I can fill the 2nd part of the day up?
Thanks!

Take the Randen Railway: https://goo.gl/maps/zmogLI would probably have about half a day left. Most people would not have half a day left after such a program. Only if you start early in the evening or travel at a very fast pace, may you still be left with half a day. Do anyone have any suggestions on how I can fill the 2nd part of the day up?I suggest to chose destinations based on interest. Arashiyama itself has a wealth of additional sites of interest, including temples, a villa and a monkey park: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3912.htmlFor another World Heritage temple, I recommend Ninnaji near Ryoanji. If you still had half a day left, the Toei Eigamura could be a different type of attraction: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3934.html
