I have a tatoo of a wedding band on my ring finger on my left hand. When I went to a hot springs resort in Arita this year and when I showed them my tatoo, they gave me some band-aids to cover it up in the communal bath. Other places said it was O.K. and didn't make me cover it up. I think it is on a case by case basis.

My tatoo is rather small, and usually does not raise a flag. I work in mainenance at a postal facility, and should not wear a ring while I work. It may depend on the size of the tatoo.
