Narita Airport to Toyama with luggage?

I have to go from Narita International Airport to Toyama City on a Friday or Saturday in March with my luggage (~2 suitcases). I am trying to find the most convenient and comfortable way possible.

After Googling it, this is the route that keeps popping up…

- At Airport Terminal 2 Station take the Keisei Sky Liner towards Keiseiueno (1 h, 5 min)
- Nippori Station, Yamanote Line towards Ueno (11 min)
- Tokyo Station, Joetsu Shinkansen towards Niigata (1 hr, 10 min)
- Echigoyuzawa Station, Hakutaka/Hokuetsu towards Kanazawa (1 h, 57 min)
- Toyama Station

Cost: \13,650 ~ $115

A lot of you on this website know Japan well so I was wondering what you thought of this route or if there is another way you personally would go?

As for when traveling, would carrying my 2 suitcases along with my purse be too much? My company said they would pay for one of my suitcases to be sent to Toyama so I only have to carry one suitcase onto public transportation. I think I will do that so I don’t take up a lot of space.

On March 14, the Hokuriku Shinkansen will completely change the access situation for Toyama, so it depends a lot on whether you will travel before March 14 or not. More details:

If you travel before March 14, the easiest way of travel is by Narita Airport, Joetsu Shinkansen and Hakutaka limited express train via Tokyo and Echigo-Yuzawa Station. All these stations have escalators for easy movement with luggage (unless you bring excessive amounts of luggage in which case I recommend to use a delivery service to send your luggage from the airport to Toyama).

From March 14 on, the best way to Toyama will be to take the Narita Express and Hokuriku Shinkansen via Tokyo. Again, the transfer at Tokyo is relatively easy for people with luggage thanks to escalators.
