Hi all,

Would anyone know of any private onsen in Tokyo? I know this might be really rare since most are communal.. any recommendations greatly appreciated!

thank you.

Private onsen would be something you might find in an "onsen" (hot spring) resort area, where there are Japanese style inns or hotels with either (1) each room with its own bathtub, or (2) there is a rent-to-yourself bath that you get to use for an hour or so. There are some inns that provide lunch & hot spring day visits, meaning you get to use the private bath for a few hours, rest in the room and have lunch.

There's one that I know of in Kusatsu, which is just outside Tokyo in Gunma prefecture.

Kusatsu Onsen Kiyishigekan offers private bath as well one-person/single rooms (which is fairly rare in Japan).

There is a "private onsen" in Oedo-Onsen Monogatari.
