Kyoto to Ito 2015/1/16 20:27
I want to spend 2 nights in Ito before returning to Tokyo from Kyoto.
I know I have to take the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Atami. Once I reach Atami, what train do I take? What is the train station called and how long is the trip?
From Ito, ideally I'd like to travel back to Shinjuku. Is this possible? Can I catch the Odoriko Superview train back to Shinjuku?
Thanks.

The JR Ito Line.

It depends where in Ito you want to go, but Ito Station is the one in the center of the city. Access is explained here:

Of course! There are lots of connections that require 1-2 transfers along the way. And a small number of direct Odoriko trains (one per day on weekdays; a few more on weekends - all in the evenings).

To look up train connections:

Thanks, Uji.
I think I'll go to Ito directly from Tokyo then Ito to Kyoto. After checking Hyperdia, it looks like it's a longer trip from Kyoto to Ito than it is from Ito to Kyoto.

When traveling between Ito and Kyoto, the fastest way is to take a direct Hikari train between Kyoto and Atami. There is only one such train every two hours or so, so, I recommend to time your trip accordingly. This is the same in either direction.
