Hi
I am going to Takachiho Gorge from Nobeoka by bus this year, just wonder if I need to make a reservation for bus ticket in advance?
if so, can I make it online?

I would say you do not have to . However, if you are travelling in peak season, it would be a good idea if you could book in advance.
I did not book when I visited the place a few years ago. The bus was virtually half empty.
One advice, if you are doing a return trip by bus, DO NOT purchase return ticket, BUY DAY PASS instead. This will save you a few hundreds yens.
