Kyoto To Mount Fuji in February

Hello,
I will be traveling to Japan for my very first time in a few days from now. I am curious on how one goes from Kyoto to near the resorts near Fuji. I understand that i would take the JR line (I bought the pass) to the Shin fuji station. Then take a bus from the station to fuji. Are the offseason times for the buses are still good for February? Any suggesitons for enlish friendly places near the area??? Thank you!!
