Kinosaki Onsen Day Trip Only 2015/1/31 09:27
We're planning a trip to Japan in May and are debating a side trip to Kinosaki from Kyoto. We're already staying at ryokan elsewhere so I wouldn't plan on spending the night here.

Is there something like a "day pass" to still get the onsen hopping experience without staying at one of the inns? If so, where would you get it?

There is a 1200 yen day pass for the 7 onsens in town. It is on sale from any of the 7 places.

It's doable in a daytrip, but that's a long day on the trains (5 hours round trip) and not the most convenient connections.

I don't think Kinosaki has a pass, but you can always buy regular entry at the various onsen that you would like to try.

William5,

Thanks for the info! JG didn't list that pass, so I'll post feedback on the kinosaki page so they can add it.

Thanks for the info on the pass! I see they also do yukata rentals.

I realize it's a long commute just to spend a few hours there, but I figure after a few days of walking all over the place, a long train ride could be a welcome break.

The connecting times aren't that bad and sometimes a direct train on weekends http://www.hyperdia.com/en/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=KYOTO&arv_node=...

but the return could be limited times http://www.hyperdia.com/en/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=KINOSAKIONSEN&a...

Plus some eating time, probably gives you about 4-5 hours to try and conquer all the onsens XD (I stayed two nights here and only got half done but it was slow pace)

Hope this helps!!!

Have fun!!!
