Accomodation in Hakone

Hello travel experts!

I would like to ask for recommendation on accommodation in Hakone. This is our first time to travel in Hakone, and we are getting the 3 days pass and will stay two days in the area.
I have no idea how to get an accommodation, which we don't need to back track in our travel, when we do the usual round.
I will really appreciate any advise on this.

My family had a brilliant time at Lalaca at Gora a few years back. 3 or 4 nights, huge rooms, nice baths, great food, lovely people. Gora is pleasant to stay at, a short (but steep) walk to the train station and close to the cablecar too.

The Japanese/western rooms are massive and could probably sleep 6. Our kids took that one and we had the Japanese room next to it which was quite big anyway, but no shower

Do you prefer Ryokan & sleep on Futon or western style hotel?
Do you want to include meals there, or no meals prefer?
