Hi everyone, my partner and I will be visiting AWESOME Japan in June this year.
Being our first trip, we would like to find out from you experts if its worth getting a JR rail pass for the following itinerary. And also get your suggestions on my plan.
7 June - Arrive Tokyo 8- Tokyo to Yokohama 9- Yokohama 10- Yokohama 11- Yokohama to Hakone (day trip) to Kyoto 12- Kyoto 13- Kyoto to Nara (day trip) 14- Kyoto to Hiroshima 15- Hiroshima to Yokohama 16- Yokohama 17- Yokohama 18- Yokohama to Tokyo 19- Tokyo 20- Leave Tokyo
As you can see, we'll be spending quite a few days in Yokohama. I need to spend the 9,10,16&17 in Yokohama due to business.
What do you think? Any suggestions for the improvement of my itinerary?
Thanks in advance everyone!

Since you will go from Yokohama to Hiroshima and back within 7 days, you should definitely get a 7-day JR Pass.

Use www.hyperdia.com; think in YEN Uncheck Nozomi box, and Private Railway box. Put in your planned trips, and if the cost is less than the cost of a Pass then yes, buy the Pass. I would actually consider a 14 day Pass, for the convenience, if you are flying in and out of Narita (maybe not so cost effective if its Haneda). From Yokohama you will be doing some day tripping? eg into Tokyo/ Kamakura/Nikko?? If so then again the 14 day pass may be a good idea. If not, then yes, the 7 day pass for down to Kyoto/Hiroshima and back. Enjoy!
