Hello.
if I only have time for 1 museum in Abashiri (beginning of March), which one should I visit :
- Abashiri prison museum
- drift ice museum
- museum of northern people ?

So I may visit the prison museum in the afternoon after my drift ice cruise, and if time permits the northern museum.

By the way, is the prison museum within walking distance to the drift ice museum or the museum of northern people ?
If so, I was thinking of doing 2 museums in the afternoon.
Not sure if the roads will be too slippery to walk on....

Neither place is close to the Prison Museum. Hokkaido Museum of Northern Peoples is more than 3 km 45 min walk away whereas the Okhotsk Ryuhyo Museum is slightly closer at 2.3 km 35 min walk away. I don't think walking is a good idea especially during winter months.
