Satsuma Peninsula

We will be going to Kagoshima and Satsuma Peninsula for 3 days in mid April 2015. In Satsuma Peninsula, we plan on visiting Ibusuki, Makurazaki, and Chiran Tokko Museum. Can we go to all three places in one day, including riding the Ibusuki no Tamakebako train from Kagoshima to Ibusuki?

Is Makurazaki worth the trip for visit? We will be interested in katsuobushi and eating seared bonito.

If you were to rent a car, then it is not too difficult (with an early start in the morning). You could rent it in Ibusuki after riding the train there (not sure whether the first departure is early enough, though).

But if you use public transportation, it will become more challenging. It is not very convenient on the peninsula. You would have to study the bus network map and timetables and see whether it can be done.
