Plum blossom in Kyoto 2015/2/28 11:31
I'm planning on going to Kyoto on March 3rd, was wondering what state the plum blossoms will be in at the Kitano Tenmangu shrine? Is it worth visiting then or later (I don't live very far away so other days are an option).

Also if anyone has any recommendations of cool or unique places to eat lunch in Kyoto (doesn't have to be touristy at all) please let me know.

Thanks!

As of Feb 28 (today), they are in full bloom according to the shrine's official website, so they should be nice in a few days, as well:

I've visited Kitano Tenmangu today. There are already some flowers open and in bloom, so it's already really pretty and you can take nice pictures. But there are also a lot still very small or even fully closed. I would say wait until around mid to end of next week, then the flowers should be in full bloom.
It's really worth a visit, I enjoyed it a lot!
