Transportation during Matsuri in May 2015/3/1 14:38
Hi all,

I'm going to Japan in May. I did not realize that the Matsuri is happening during the days I'm there. My question is, how will this affect train transportation and the overall crowd in the city? I plan on taking the shinkansen from Shin-Aomori to Tokyo on May 16. Will that be a problem (with many people heading to the Matsuri)?

What matsuri are you referring to?

The only event that will have major impact on transportation is the Golden Week. Basics are explained here:

I'm referring to the Sanja and Kanda happening in Tokyo. It's just so happened that I will be in Tokyo that weekend. I was wondering if it will be especially crowded in Tokyo during that time.

The Ginza Subway Line between Ueno and Asakusa will be very crowded. But most other train lines will be little affected.
