- where can we store luggage prior to the cable car ride? Or, can luggage be transferred to Yunomine Onsen (next stop for us) prior to traveling there from Koyasan?

Use a luggage forwarding service like takkyubin and send your luggage from the hotel before Koyasan to the one after. Your hotel should be able to help you fill in the form; just make sure you have the name, address and phone number of the destination hotel in both English and Japanese. I used this service on my trip last year, and filled out the form in English with the help of my hotel receptionist (to translate the form itself!), and it arrived at my next hotel no problem. It's also very well-priced - cost about 1500 yen for a standard suitcase.
