What would be the best route from Nozawa Onsen to Osaka using JR rail pass? Thanks!

Anyway you must change several times on the way.
Togari Nozawa onsen is the nearest station of Nozawa onsen.
From Togari Nozawa Onsen, you take the Iiyama line to Nagano station(about 50 mins).
In Nagano, you must change to go to Nagoya(3 hours).
In Nagoya, you can catch a sinkansen to go to Osaka(1 hour).
If you have a Japan rail pass, you can use the express train from Nagano to Nagoya named Shinano.
From Nagoya to Osaka, you can not use Nozomi shinkansen but Hikari shinkansen.
It takes about 6 hours for the whole journey.

I write another route.
It is a route through the Hokuriku Shinkansen. It can be used after March 14. The travel time is about 5 hours.
Nozawa Onsen -(Bus:25 min, 600yen)- Iiyama sta.
Iiyama -(Hokuriku Shinkansen)- Kanazawa
Kanazawa -(Ltd Exp.Thunderbird)- Osaka
